Update 5/11/14

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! Last week I hit 500 views! You guys make it so worth doing this. I am so happy that everyone reads what I have to say! Thank you very much!

Hey guys. It is once again that time of year. Be thankful for your mother she is important to you from the day you are born until the day you part from this world. So make sure you hug your mom, tell her you love her, or even just show your gratitude in some way. She is your rock.

Since today is Mother's Day, I have decided: "Why not do a special update all about Mothers"? So here you go. Let's talk some of my favorite moms of anime.

Kushina Uzumaki from the Naruto Franchise. She is the mother of the titular character Naruto Uzumaki. She gave her life to protect her son just hours after giving birth to him. She was alas Kurama's Jinchuriki before Naruto and was able to help Naruto master Kurama's chakra.

Mikoto Uchiha from the Naruto Franchise. She is the mother of Itachi and Sasuke Uchiha. She gave up her life to the hands of Itachi because she know her and her clan had done wrong. She was proud of her son even if he was her end. She was also Sasuke's biggest supporter because his father barely batted an eye in his direction.

Masaki Kurosaki from the Bleach. She is the mother of Ichigo, Karin, and Yuzu Kurosaki. She protected Ichigo and died while saving him due to unforeseen circumstances. She was also a Pureblood Quincy who threw away her pampered life to have a family with a Shinigami.

Belle-mere from One Piece. She is the mother of Nami. She raised Nami and her sister despite being a feared pirate. She then died for her village and her girls.

Ikumi Unagiya from Bleach. She is the "perfect mother" or at least pretends to be for her young son. She is a hard-headed, caring mother-like figure to Ichigo with an odd obsession with the boy. She is his shoulder to cry on and is always looking out for him even if he doesn't want it half the time.

Izumi Curtis from the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise. She was the teacher and mother-like figure to Edward and Alphonse Elric. She is constantly feeling guilty over the loss of her child and tries to prevent others from having to experience the same or similar pain.

Trisha Elric from the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise. She raised her sons Edward and Alphonse by herself because she knew that her husband needed to leave to do what he had to. She was kind-hearted and cared a lot for her boys. She cared so much that she hid her illness from not only her sons but everyone because she didn't want to worry anyone. She died young but left a mark that will never be erased.

Juri Kuran from Vampire Knight. She raised Kaname as her own son when he chose to stay with them after having been reincarnated from Juri's son. She raised her only daughter Yuki like a happy child despite having to keep her hidden from the world. She gave up her life to protect Yuki from Rido by turning her into a human child.

Madam Christmas from the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise. She is the adoptive mother of Roy Mustang. She is always willing to drop anything for him and she also acts as his informant.

Yuri Okumura from Blue Exorcist. She loved Yuki and Rin with all her heart. She gave her life to give birth to her twins and knew that she loved them even if they may grow up to be demons.

Yes there are a lot of moms but these are the ones that stand out to me. Plus I was blanking on A LOT of them that are out there. These mothers all have an aspect of what I see in mothers that I think all moms are born with it isn't something that women have until they have their first child though.

When you think of a mom what do you imagine?

I know what you are probably thinking. "Kat, seriously? We're two weeks into May and you're reviewing April now?" Sorry guys. In all my meticulous planning I forgot to plan for my Month in Review... Yeah I know I suck, so just hang in there with me.

So April was a very busy moth for me. So much went on and not all of it was anime related. However those stories are for another day.

April was the beginning of the Spring 2014 anime season. There are several great shows that have come from this. Not only those but I have started watching (and subsequently falling in love with) the show Nobunaga the Fool. (As I write this I am only 3 episodes in but I'm a busy girl and can't binge watch 16+ episodes of an anime on top of keeping up with my weekly streams, school, and this blog).

Aside from the shows I am streaming, I have made some interesting anime purchases this month.

- Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion
- Naruto The Official Fanbook
- Bleach vol 60 (digital copy)
- Naruto vol 65 (digital copy)
- Naruto vol 65 (hard copy)

I have been watching & keeping up on my (most of them anyway) anime. Okay to be honest I have only kept up on like 3 or 4 shows.

- The Irregular at Magic High School
- Naruto Shippuden
- Black Bullet
- The World is Still Beautiful
- Date A Live 2
- Dragonar Academy

So yeah that is a bit more than 4 shows but you get the idea.

As far as manga I have kept up on Black Bullet, Naruto, & Bleach (obviously). Other than that there really hasn't been much new in manga.

Expect a review in the future about Bleach DiamondDust, I just need to watch the movie in both English and Japanese before I start. So I am thinking July over my summer break...so the first or second weekend.

It's that time again! Each week on Instagram and Tumblr I post hints with the #CharacteroftheWeek and ask people to guess who they think it is. If you don't follow me you should. My Instagram is @vamp1929 and my Tumblr is vamp1929.tumblr.com, follow me!

This week's character of the week is:

Kushina Uzumaki from Naruto

She is the wife of Minato Namikaze who was the Yondaime Hokage, the mother of Naruto Uzumaki, and the friend of Mikoto Uchiha.

She was brought to Konoha so she could become the Jinchuriki of Kurama.

She gained the nickname of Konoha's Fiery Red Pepper due to her quick temper, strength, and her beautiful red hair. She was kidnapped when she was younger because she is special but she was saved by Minato. She soon after fell in love with him.

When Naruto is trying to tame Kurama, Kushina helps and Kurama recognizes her proving that she was a formidable opponent.

Kushina was going to offer her life and have Minato live to raise Naruto on his own but the two wound up giving up their lives to stop Kurama from killing Naruto.

Did you guess right? Want a specific character spotlit? Let me know! I'm always willing to take recommendations.

So normally I would say that I am going to talk about this week's Naruto and Bleach chapters...but I haven't actually written the review...Oops. I was so busy this week between school and getting my xbox. Yeah I was playing videos games...BUT it was all for the sake of this blog. I am going to review every Naruto game that I can get my hands on. I don't think there are any Bleach games that I can find. So I apologize.

Keep reading and see you next week!

Ja ne!
xx Kat
