Update 6/15/14
Hey guys! Welcome to a new week and a new update. First off let me just say a huge thank you to you the fan for getting this blog to 773 views! You have no idea how happy it makes me to see those numbers climbing. Just remember when I hit 900 views I am going to post a Facebook page for you all to join and stay connected better with this blog.
Moving on to the update.
Father's day. I actually don't get to spend Father's day with my dad this year. He and my mom are out on a road trip so we don't get to see them for a few more days.
So in honor of our father's, let's talk about those dad's in anime who also have our respect.
(Now don't judge me but I got lazy halfway through doing this and only looked up a few pics. I was getting really tired of typing names to get pics...)
From Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.
I know what you're thinking. Why would I choose to do a spotlight on one of the saddest father's in anime? My reason is simple. Maes Hughes was the absolute best character as well as the best (albeit obsessive) father. So he is perfect for Father's Day.
When everyone thinks of Maes Hughes they all think one thing: "Episode 25". This is something that anyone who has seen the original 2003 anime can relate to. Several people were furious when Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood was released because Episode 25 became Episode 10. You didn't get to fall for Hughes' character like you did in the original but it was still really hard to watch and to this day Elicia's voice makes me cry.
In a world such as Fullmetal Alchemist which is set in war time, you can bet your ass that there will be death. However FMA is probably one o fthe few anime I can say shocked me with the death of a character. It was as shocking as a certain death in Naruto Shippuden that just was shown recently...(still a touchy, sensitive subject so I won't mention more than that). However, before I get into his death, let's talk about his life.
Maes Hughes is first introduced on the train when Al and Ed are up against an enemy of the state. (In the 2009 anime he is introduced in the first episode as an already goofy character with a slight serious nature) Maes is shown talking on the phone to Mustang about his wife who just found out she was pregnant. He is a bit of a comical relief character in several episodes but can be shown to be very serious. When Hughes realizes what is happening he quickly steps into action and is able to get control of the situation alongside Edward Elric.
After that you get to experience the ultimate goofy that is Maes Hughes. The episode "Flame vs. Fullmetal" is my favorite Hughes moment when he is the emcee of the fight between Mustang and Ed he announces that it is almost Elicia's birthday. It is hilarious and cute. (To be honest though that is my favorite episode of FMA because of Roy Mustang's role in it)
"That day all female officer's will be required to wear tiny miniskirts!"
"Dog, huh? I love dogs!"
"Loyal canine how we salute thee!"
Okay, I got off track...
Another funny episode is Elicia's birth. He runs to find a doctor in a blizzard only for Ed and Al to have to deliver the baby. (2003 anime only, Elicia is already like 2 or 3 in the 2009 anime)
Now. The moment. Yep. Episode 25. I won't say too much about it but I will talk about the parts that stand out as important.
This was the turning point for a lot of characters. The death of Maes Hughes destroyed Roy Mustang and Edward Elric. They then knew it was highly important to win even if it killed them. Maes Hughes was murdered by the shape shifting Homonculus and was the catalyst of the wars change. He had discovered so much about the bad guys that they killed him to try and protect themselves, but he was good enough to get the information out anyway.
Because of his quick thinking, it makes him an important character and one of my favorites.

It is so hard to keep straight what I am excited about. The anime just premiered the reamination of the past Hokage while in the manga Sasuke and Naruto are planning something as well as the Hokage.
The struggle is real.
I just really want this war to end. If the damn villain morphs one more time...I may just scream.
Akatsuki -> Tobi -> Madara -> Madara and Obito -> Madara -> Old Lady
It's really frustrating to keep up with ho is good and bad anymore.
From now on I think I will be on team Naruto's Jacket. At least that will never betray my trust.
I am hoping the Hokage are able to help Naruto and Sasuke win.
I just don't know how to feel about these chapters.
Bleach
Really Tite Kubo?! That is it for the fight? You hide Ichigo for MONTHS and he gets two chapters worth of a fight and he is mostly dodging?!?!
I am so curious what A has planned for Ichigo especially since he is now releasing something powerful.
So yeah...I don't have a lot to say about this chapter. I was too furious about the fight.
I mean COME ON he fires a Getsuga Tensho and tells the girl to dodge it?! Since when has Ichigo been a wimp about fighting his enemy?
Where is Grimmjow to kick his ass?

I tip my hat to you all. Though some didn't raise their children they influenced them enough to be proud father's. Others are surrogate father's especially to friends of their own children. There is nothing wrong with having a father-like figure in your life.
Minato and Hughes are at the top of my list because they are dad's who give their all to their child. Elicia and Naruto were well loved and know it.
All the other dad's gave their all to their children in one way or another but there are so many of them I just cannot fit everything into one blog.
Who is your favorite anime dad? Did I miss any really good ones? Is there an anime dad that reminds you of your own dad?
Mix Isshin Kurosaki with Akio Furukawa and a touch of Gildarts Clive then tone them down a hair or two and you sort of have my dad. Goofy but protective as well as understanding and supportive.
Now last week my little sister and I were talking one night as we rewatched Ouran for the umpteenth time when we got onto the topic of becoming anime characters. No I am not talking about cosplay...I mean actually being a character in an anime. We determined from the anime we had both seen together (I have seen more than her so it was only fair that I limited the list to what she has seen) which characters we would be.

Now I don't remember any of my sister's responses with the exception of: Travis Willingham. She then proceeded to say "Mmm...Mori likes seashells" and "That day...all female officers will be required to wear...tiny miniskirts!" Such a dork. So here were my responses.
