Update 9/28/14

Hey guys! I am finally done with finals. I now have a week off from school before I start my internship and my certification review class. Phew. It's been a rough week and now I have an exciting blog for you (plus I finally break the silence on Naruto and Bleach chapters).

Let's get into it.

So time and time again I talk about how busy I am with school and stuff, well I have a system. Being a college student, an anime blogger, and working is not easy. However, I have created a system that usually works (unless you have everything go wrong...like your computer crashing). In a perfect world you would have all the time to do whatever you wanted but this isn't  perfect world. Now my system makes many people laugh when they see it but it works for me.

My first system is my planner. My entire life is in this one little book. Well...my entire blogging life is. I have everything planned out on post-it notes. Originally it used to be I would write out a month on a piece of notebook paper and hope I could remember what page it was on. That didn't work for me, so writing it out on a post-it what I was going to discuss on a specific day did.

For example:

July. On July 6th I was going to discuss my June Recap which would include my top 10 openings of spring along with a discussion of what anime to expect for the Summer 2014 season. Then my COTW was going to be Shiro and Sora from No Game, No Life. That is literally the only basis I would have for a blog plan. I wouldn't outline: I'm going to say this here and this here. Hell even when I am writing down a blog onto paper I'm usually going to change it from what it says on paper to what it actually says on the screen.

This new system with my planner allowed me to better advance my plans. So I am now able to say: "Yes I have my blog planned for October 26th or December 28th". I can confidently say that I have a plan and I won't struggle at last minute to come up with an idea because shit does happen and having that plan allows for quick writes. Why do you think despite everything that has happened over the last couple of months that I was still able to produce semi-quality work? It's because of this weird anime management system I have for Kat's Anime Corner.

My second system is actually the one that people laugh about. When I was in elementary school my mom bought me a large whiteboard and I have always just doodled on it or wrote like movies I wanted to see or books I wanted to buy. Now I use it for my blog. I actually have a plan to buy like two or three more whiteboards because this one doesn't do everything I want it to, but I make it work. My whiteboard is where I write out my two month plan for my blog as well as what dates are coming up soon so I can prepare for those. Then I also write out my Simulcast Schedule so that I know what shows I am watching at what time on what streaming site. It may sound eccentric but it works for me and it helps me to remain focused on my plan.

Lately I have been trying to integrate my iPhone, my iPad, and my MacBook into the system but I am still working out the kinks of that process.

What is your system for staying organized? Do you like to be put on the spot or have everything planned out? Will you try this system? Let me know. I want to know how you do it.

As a segue into the next topic let me recommend a documentary to watch. It is on Netflix and is called I Know That Voice. It is about voice acting. While it would be cool to see an anime voice acting documentary it is still cool to watch this one because we are talking actors that have been doing this since way before most of us were born. Plus it has the amazing Steve Blum and if you don't know who he is...look him up. You probably do. Some of the voice actors featured in this documentary are actually mentioned in this next topic. So let's do it.

Even now women in anime are slowly becoming a lot more prevalent and less of the damsel in distress but that is still there as it is part of the culture...but I won't get into that. If you want to hear more about that check out my Female Leads blog. Instead, let's actually talk about the voices behind those women. I hopped on over to Behind The Voice Actor to see what their top ten list of Female Voice Actors was. Here is what I got:

1. Tara Strong (Dil Pickles from Rugrats, Bubbles from PowerPuff Girls, Timmy Turner from Fairly Odd Parents)

2. Jamie Marchi (Cana from Fairy Tail, Liz from Soul Eater)

3. Grey DeLisle (Vicky from Fairly Odd Parents, Daphne Blake from Scooby-Doo)

4. Laura Bailey (Maka from Soul Eater, Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist)

5. Colleen Clinkenbeard (Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail, Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece)

9. Brittney Karbowski (Black Star from Soul Eater, Cal Devens from Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, Wendy from Fairy Tail)

10. Luci Christian (Lenalee from D. Gray-Man, Honey from Ouran High School Host Club)

Now that is their list. I actually have my own top ten female ANIME voice actors.

1. Monica Rial - Lulubell and Lero from D. Gray-Man, Renge from Ouran High School Host Club, Mira from Fairy Tail

2. Colleen Clinkenbeard - Erza from Fullmetal Alchemist, Inner Moka from Rosario + Vampire, Miranda from D. Gray-Man

9. Terri Doty - Jellal, Mystogan, and Virgo from Fairy Tail, Alice from Okami-san and her Seven Companions, Nella from Dance in the Vampire Bund

10. Tia Ballard - Eris from Cat Planet Cuties, Yoshino from Date A Live, Happy from Fairy Tail

Seeing Terri Doty reminds me that as a voice actor she knows a lot of them and due to her show That Anime Show she had a lot of those female actors on. Here are the female voice actors that were featured on the show.

1. Tia Ballard
2. Anastasia Munoz
3. Alexis Tipton
4. Maxey Whitehead
5. Stephanie Young
6. Brina Palencia
7. Jamie Marchi
8. Monica Rial

15. Apphia Yu
16. Ryan Reynolds
17. Kristi Kang
18. Jad Saxton

Who is your favorite female voice actor?

So normally this is the part where I say "and now character of the week". Nuh-uh. Not happening yet. I have one last little treat for you all.

AMV...take two. Guys, I have done it again and have made two new AMV's. They are multi-amv and not set to a single show but many.

1. Courtesy Call by Thousand Foot Krutch. This amv features clips from Rosario + Vampire, Kaze no Stigma, Vampire Knight, Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, Chrome Shelled Regios, Jyu-Oh-Sei, Angel Beats, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Maid-sama, PandoraHearts, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Bleach, Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, D. Gray-Man, and Bleach the Movie: Hell Verse. This is my largest multi-amv coming in at a total of 16 anime featured. I am very proud of this amv.

2. We're All to Blame by Sum 41. This amv features clips from PandoraHearts. Naruto Shippuden, Bleach, Jyu-oh-Sei, D. Gray-Man, Vampire Knight, Soul Eater, Bleach the Movie: Hell Verse, Maid-sama, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Blue Exorcist, Hiiro no Kakera, and Fullmetal Alchemist The Conqueror of Shamballa. Before I made Courtesy Call this was my largest amv with a total of 13 anime featured. It was a fun one to make as We're All to Blame is a different song that can change meaning depending on a clip you play with it or a scene you put to the words.

What did you think? Did you like them? Would you like to see more? Do you have a specific song you'd like to see? What is your favorite amv? Let me know and share them with me. Who knows maybe the next time I discuss AMV's I will bring up you're favorites.

So NOW this is the part where I say: Hey guys I post a hint of a picture on Instagram with the #CharacteroftheWeek and ask you to guess which anime character I have selected. This week was one I had a rough time writing about since I had only seen the anime once....a long while ago.

This week I have selected:

Orphen

from Orphen.

He is a magician who is rough and independent. He does things for himself.

He teaches Magik about sorcery.

The reason I chose to highlight him is because he is a wonderfully rounded character from the late 90's or early 2000's.

I would highly recommend this series if not purely for Orphen. Plus as far as older character designs go his is fairly handsome in a grungy way.

And since this sucked as a character of the week description...here's his Wikipedia entry:

Haha. If you would like to see a character of your choice featured in the Character of the Week section. Let me know on Tumblr, Twitter, or Facebook and I just may use your character.

So for those of you who do not read spoiler filled chapter reviews...I say farewell. For those who do...welcome back!

SPOILER ALERT - THIS SECTION CONTAINS CHAPTER SPOILERS FROM NEW NARUTO AND BLEACH CHAPTERS - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK - SPOILER ALERT

Naruto

The war is over...or so we thought. Psycho Sasuke has it in his head that he needs to start a revolution. So he takes control of all nine bijou and locks them up to destroy them.

He then looks to Naruto and states that they need to fight because Naruto is the Jinchuriki for all nine tailed beasts.

Naruto wants to stop his friend and finally have peace so he agrees.

Sakura decides to intervene and preach to Sasuke how he should stop everything and come back to let her fix his cold heart.

He casts a genjutsu on her to make her think Sasuke punched his hand deep into her chest. Naruto scolds him and Sasuke replies about how he doesn't care for her love.

Sasuke disappears and Naruto follows after promising to win and come back to Kakashi. They both end up at the Valley of the End to fight for the last time.

Both declaring to show their meaning of Hokage.

Yes the fight we've been waiting for. Obviously I am rooting for Naruto to win and become Hokage. I just want to see him whop Sasuke's ass. It would be a fitting end to this fight.

Bleach

I just don't fucking know anymore. What's going on? This latest chapter finally goes back to Ichigo who is on his way back to the Soul Kingdom to defeat A and kick Uryu's ass for being a dumb ass. Then Ginjo shows up as eccentric as ever. But still not 100% sure what is happening. Can this manga just end and the anime be brought back? Oh and Grimmjow. Yep. He needs to come back too. Oh well. I'll wait it out to see how it goes.

Sorry guys for my long absence from this. I think between the one week break Naruto took and the confusing world that is Bleach plus school I just didn't have the energy to write my reviews. But I am back for the time being. We'll see what this next school quarter is like.

Until next time. See you later.

Ja ne.

xx Kat
