Update 11/30/14

Hey guys! Welcome to a new update. Believe it or not...I actually have the entire blog written this time. Just in time for the one year anniversary which is next Sunday! I can't wait to share that next week with you all. It will surely be tons of fun. (btw just looked down when I was typing and saw a pack of M&M's...so now I am eating them as I type this)

So to start of the blog here is a little review of sorts of my favorite streaming site: Crunchyroll. Let's begin.

I have been a member of Crunchyroll since December 19th of 2013 when they released the Sword Art Online Extra Edition. I was so excited to watch that and I was intending on just doing the trial but not keeping the account when I fell in love with the site itself. Having a premium membership is one of the coolest things. Being able to watch anime commercial-free as it airs in Japan is something else. It isn’t even that expensive and you can watch it on your computer, your tablet, your iPhone, your X-Box, or your PlayStation.

Crunchyroll has been around since 2006 and is in San Francisco. It is funded by The Chernin Group, which is invested in sites such as Tumblr and partnered with companies such as AT&T, and TV Tokyo, if you don’t know them…they own a lot of anime…like Naruto.

Crunchyroll holds the streaming rights to several popular anime series such as Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, Bleach, One Piece, Fairy Tail, and more.

Free access to the site is allowed on Windows Phone, iOS, and Android when connected to WiFi. But that content is limited as it is free and it is chock full of commercials.

Content like the original Naruto series and a lot of older series plus same day airing is only accessible to those with a subscription. The anime subscription runs at $6.95 per month with access to commercial free anime and limited access to additional content. While the all-access subscription is $11.95 per month for access to all of their content.

Now with a paid subscription streaming is available on Windows Phones of OS 7.5 & higher, Roku, Boxee, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Vizio Internet enabled TV, Google Internet enabled TV, Samsung Internet enabled TV, and Apple TV.

Current popular shows on Crunchyroll are:

Sword Art Online (which is currently airing its second season)
Naruto Shippuden (which is currently airing)
One Piece (which is currently airing)
Log Horizon (which is currently airing)
Fair Tail (which is currently airing its second series)
Fate/stay night (which is currently airing)
Akame ga Kill (which is currently airing)
Parasyte (which is currently airing)
World Trigger (which is currently airing)
Terraformars (which is currently airing)
Trinity Seven (which is currently airing)

and many more.

You can check out what shows are currently airing or you can look at their release calendar to see when shows will be released.

With the All-Access Membership you have access to their collection of dramas from China, Japan, Korea, and Singapore. You can watch popular dramas like Boys Over Flowers or Mischievous Kiss and more.

Unsure of which membership best suits you? Try out a free trial of Crunchyroll. http://www.crunchyroll.com/premium_comparison

A free trial of All-Access will give you an idea. If you are only interested in watching anime…then the Anime Membership is for you. Give it a try. It’s my favorite streaming site and I really hope you guys like it too.

Now let's jump across the inter webs to a little place called YouTube. This is where I was reintroduced (see my 7/27/14 update) to anime. You might think, Oh Kat you've already discussed this. Yeah, I know, but this time I am going to relay some of my favorite YouTube channels and some favorite anime related videos on those channels.

First up - Strawburry 17 aka Meghan Camerena. She was the girl that started it all for me. I have been watching her for years. Two of my favorite anime related videos she has done are:

Sailor Moon Cake Pops

Tonight I'm Watching You Parody

Second - JoeyGraceffa. Funnily enough, this is Meghan's roommate and I have been watching him since 2009 or 2010. I love him and he shares a similar taste in anime as I do. Here are two of my favorite anime related videos:

Hello Fascination (yes first off I know it isn't anime related but if you see my AMV's blog you'll get it and second I know it is on WinterSpringPro, but this is still JoeyGraceffa)

Top 5 Anime

Third - TopAnimeWeekly. I watch every video they publish even if I don't agree and wind up yelling at my computer screen as it is going on....here are two videos:

Top 50 Anime Openings of 2014

Top 25 Anime of Summer 2014

Fourth - FUNimation. Yes...not only am I a member on their website and follow them on Twitter and Facebook but I also subscribe to their YouTube channel. So what? I like FUNimation. Here are two of my current favorite videos on FUNi's channel:

Fairy Tail Opening 15

Laughing Under the Clouds Opening

Fifth - Todd Haberkorn. Yes, my God he has a YouTube channel and I am all over this shit. Here are two videos:

The Harlem Habershake

CSI: Mignogna

Last - Vic Mignogna. Through finding Todd on YouTube, I found the Vic. Yep, he's there too. Here are two videos inspired by the Todd:

The Todd of the Rings

Todd Haberkorn Action Figure Commercial

Clearly, I spend a lot of time on YouTube and these videos aren't even the half of it. There are crack videos that I watch as well and then you also have Octopimp's 50% Off. So much awesome related to anime on the YouTube (okay...I don't think you guys would get that joke...).

What is your favorite thing to watch on YouTube that is anime related? Do you have a specific YouTuber that is all things anime that you like? Let me know.

Now it is that time again. The time where I profile a specific anime character and post lots of pictures of them. This week on Character of the Week...I present to you:

Lust

from Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

This bombshell homunculus is quite a villain. Until you meet Father and Pride in Brotherhood, she appears to be the leader of the homunculus.

In the 2003 anime Fullmetal Alchemist, she is killed by Wrath.

In the 2009 anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, she is burned to death by Roy Mustang.

The sexy Lust uses her wiles to draw in men. One man who falls victim is Havoc. In Brotherhood while Mustang and Havoc are chasing Lust, she wounds Roy and paralyzes Havoc.

She is one sin that I wouldn't want to mess with.

FUN FACT: English voice actress Laura Bailey plays Lust in both series while her husband Travis Willingham plays Roy Mustang in both series.

So this is the part where I say farewell to those of you who do not read spoilers from the newest manga chapter of Bleach and the newest episodes of Fairy Tail. If you do proceed. If you don't, I will see you all next week for the one year anniversary!

SPOILER ALERT - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK YOU'VE BEEN WARNED - SPOILERS

Bleach

Guys, I just don't know anymore. Do I even care? I feel like we were thrown into this war with little to no explanation (maybe I just feel this way because the last two villains seem to have had everything planned out and they told us about their plans). Plus we hardly get to see Ichigo the main character. I have not been a fan of this series as of late.

On another note, Yoruichi's little sister. I can't even. SHE IS TOO CUTE!!!!

What are your thoughts on this current Bleach?

Fairy Tail

I have been struggling to figure out what it is that I want to do here and I finally figured it out. I don't want to do the manga because it is too hard to keep up with (one week there were two chapters released...), so instead...let's talk ANIME.

So starting in October we were greeted with the start of a new arc. It is an arc about the Celestial Spirits rebelling for some supposed freedom. It is up to Team Natsu, Team Strauss, Gajeel, Levy, Juvia & Yukino to stop them. It isn't easy for them either.

Natsu vs Loke (Leo the Lion)

Lucy vs Virgo (the Maiden)

Cana vs Scorpio (the Scorpion)

Levy vs Capricorn (the Goat)

Erza vs Sagittarius (the Archer)

Juvia vs Aries (the Ram)

Wendy vs Aquarius (the Water Bearer) - *Wendy won

Elfman vs Taurus (the Golden Bull) - *Elfman won

Gray vs Cancer (the Crab)

Mira vs Pisces (the Paired Fish) - *Mira won

Gajeel vs Gemini (the Twins)

Yukino vs Libra (the Heavenly Scales)

Since it is still ongoing, I'm not 100% sure how I feel but I am certain that it isn't a terrible arc.

Which fight are you looking forward to? Mine are Natsu vs Loke and Lucy vs Virgo.

That's it for this week. Hope you liked my update. Leave suggestions of ideas you'd like to see in the new year. I'll see you all next week for the one year anniversary of Kat's Anime Corner.

Until then.

Ja ne.

xx Kat
