Update 2/8/15

Hey guys! Believe it or not but I actually had this entire blog written before today. Strange right? Plus ...with the exception of a full Bleach manga review (I do have some...words...) I have every element in the update!! Let's get started.

Top 10 Openings of Winter 2015

Since I am watching only ten shows this season (I dropped a few due to time constraints), it was really easy to pick the openings. These are my favorite openings this winter 2015 season, not that I get to watch these shows on time (i.e. Kuroko which I am so far behind on that I am up to date on what Crunchyroll has...which is two weeks behind).

1. Fairy Tail OP 18: "Break Out!" by V6
2. Kuroko no Basuke 3 OP 1 "Punky Funky Love" by GRANRODEO
3. World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman OP 1: "Hi no Ito Rin'ne no Gemini" by petit milady
4. Aldnoah.Zero OP 2: "&Z" by Sawano Hiroyuki[nZk]: Mizuki
5. Absolute Duo OP 1: "Absolute Soul" by Konomi Suzuki
6. Unlimited Fafnir OP 1: "FLYING FAFNIR" by TRUSTRICK
7. The Testament of Sister New Devil OP 1: "Blade of Hope" by sweet ARMS
8. Naruto Shippuden OP 16: "Silhouette" by KANA-BOON
9. Sailor Moon Crystal OP 2: "MOON PRIDE" by Momoiro Clover Z
10. Tokyo Ghoul Root A OP 1: "Munou" by osterreich

Do you have a favorite OP this anime season? If so, what is it? Is it one that is listed above, or is it from a show that I haven't mentioned? Let me know!

Manga Review: Millennium Snow

*Featured on Recommend It! Manga on Kat's Anime Corner Facebook Page December 21st, 2014*

Normally you'd get an apology that I didn't have time to write...but this is different. I actually did write a manga review...and it's a good one!

From the author of Ouran High School Host Club, Bisco Hatori, comes a beautiful supernatural romance. Chiyuki Matsuoka, a lonely human girl, has a failing heart and she is slowly dying. One day she meets Toya Kano, a lonely vampire, who saves her life. Millennium Snow is their love story. When I originally read this story, volume one and two were the only ones out...my heart ached. Then volume three and four were released setting my heart a flutter.

So....

Do you like romance? Read this.
Do you like emotions? Read this.
Do you like supernatural? Read this.
Do you like vampires? Read this.

Basically...you should read this series.

Volume 1 was released in Japan in 2001 and in the US in 2007. Volume 2 was released in Japan in 2002 and in the US in 2007. Skip time a bit and volume 3 was released in Japan in 2013 and in the US in 2014. While volume 4 was released in 2014 in both Japan and the US.

Now as for EXACTLY what it is about...here are the volume descriptions found on VizManga

Volume 1: "Chiyuki makes the most of the time she has left, even though things aren't that exciting -- until she comes across a reluctant vampire late one chilly night. Can Chiyuki teach Toya to feel passion for life, even as her own is ending?"

Volume 2: "Now that her bond with Toya has healed her heart, Chiyuki wants to live her life to the fullest. What she doesn't know is that Toya has refused to make the full partnership with her. He doesn't want to doom her to a thousand years of life. Chiyuki swore to Toya that she would never leave him alone, but is that a promise she'll be able to keep?"

Volume 3: "Toya can't shake his blood aversion, even though Chiyuki would happily share hers with him, and the malnutrition is starting to take its toll. Chiyuki tries to supplement his diet with solid food, but that's barely enough to keep him alive. Can Chiyuki find a way to supper her vampire when he refuses he help she knows he need?"

Volume 4: "Toya still hasn't agreed to make Chiyuki his partner, but while his opinion hasn't budged, time has. It's now their last year in high school, and Toya is facing the prospect of supporting himself for the rest of his long life. But even with Chiyuki's calming influence, is Toya capable of holding down a job? And if he's not, how will a lone vampire survive in this cold world?"

This beautiful series which ran in the magazine Lala from 2001 to 2013, is just the perfect series that you can curl up on your couch (or chair...or bed) with a nice cup of hot tea (or coffee...or water...) and enjoy over and over again.

I give this series an overall rating of 9.5 out of 10. (The last 0.5 will come when we get a cute bonus chapter in the future about Toya and Chiyuki...js.)

Character of the Week

Yu Kanda - D. Gray-Man

Guys, I've been slacking. Big time. So here is a good one...the only one in the last few weeks.

Yu Kanda.

Did you guys know he's only technically nine-years-old??? Yeah, strange. My little sister is still creeped out by it.

Mugen is his katana innocence (which he uses on a number of occasions to do its job and on other's to attack Allen).

The voice provided for Yu Kanda is by Takahiro Sakurai in Japanese (This dude is freaking Misaki from Junjou Romantica! I still can't picture Kanda squirming underneath Usagi-sensei...) *clears throat*. In English he is Travis Willingham...yes, Travis Willingham, the BEAUTIFUL Col. Roy Mustang. *in Roy voice* "I LOVE dogs!" and "That day...all female officers will be required to wear...tiny MINISKIRTS!"

As of volume 24, Kanda is promoted from 2nd Exorcist to General.

This boy is frenemies with Allen and he owes Allen for his help in America (not spoiling, you need to read the series). Plus he despises Nea for taking over Allen.

He is frequently tormenting Allen and Lavi for making fun of him. He calls Allen "Moyashi" and Lavi "baka usagi".

He is one hell of an exorcist and well worthy of being my character of the week (plus I've already done Lavi and Allen).

SPOILER SECTION

SPOILERS - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK - SPOILERS

Fairy Tail

Guys...the Celestial Spirit arc is finally over. Wanna know what I had to say about it? "THEY FUCKING FORGOT EVERYTHING?????" Way to waste so much of my time. I don't know if I ever said it here, but I have said...they were really wasting our time until the stupid manga arc was over so that they could animate it fully. This is dumb. This arc really had nothing to do with this story...at all. At least this new filler arc was actually part of the manga series. They are doing an arc full of the shorts from the manga.

- Ep 1: Natsu babysits Asuka (this week).
- Ep 2: Juvia's present for Gray (next week).

The Tartarus arc starts in the Spring 2015 Anime Season.

So back to this episode...NATSU AND HAPPY KISSED. Though did you'll catch the way that Lucy was blushing at the thought of kissing Natsu? Girl wants some of that. Just saying.

Who else is waiting for their relationship to be announced. Like seriously. Those who read the manga will feel me on this especially with the last few chapters with just Lucy and Natsu interacting. It's almost imminent that they will start dating. I can feel it. Maybe I'll do a blog post in the future about Fairy Tail couples (the ones that I think will happen in the series).

Let me know your thoughts on this.

So that is all for this week guys. It has been really fun and I can't wait to do next week's blog. (It's an anime review...)

See you next week!

Ja ne.

xx Kat
