Update 12/23/15

Guys...I am so freaking sorry. I didn't mean to disappear for as long as I have but I have been in the worst of moods lately and I did not want to push that onto my blog. I was absolutely angry at certain situations in my life and I couldn't write a blog post that satisfied me. So I finally put a small blog post together for you in hopes of begging your forgiveness. I am making it a part of my New Year's Resolution to update my blog on a regular basis even if it is just a small chat type blog. I don't like being away from here too long and the months that I have been MIA is unacceptable in my mind.

Now let's get into it.

Amanda Lee vs Nathan Sharp:

Who Sang It Best?

If you follow me on any social media then you know about my intense love for NateWantsToBattle and LeeandLie on YouTube. If you follow me on Snapchat then I am fairly certain you have heard their songs on countless occasions.

These two anime English cover artists have completely different singing styles which means there are several songs that one will sing but the other won't. Let's see who has sung the following four songs best. (Note: I spent a shit ton of time listening and appraising these songs until I decided which one actually sang it best).

So here is what I did. I took the original song and then I listened to it in comparison to the cover by each artist. (Fun Fact: I didn't realize I owned all the Japanese versions of the songs I chose until after I chose them).

1. "unravel" by TK from Ling tosite sigure - Tokyo Ghoul OP

The winner is....

Nate! Out of the two versions, Nate's is the superior cover. I absolutely love Amanda's lullaby take on the song and she gets an A for creativity. However, Nate's cover has a feeling of the original that Amanda's didn't quite grasp.

2. "The Reluctant Heroes" by Hiroyuki Sawano & Mpi - Attack On Titan Score

The winner is...

Amanda! Again Amanda did a lullaby take on this song but in this case it actually works. I love Nate's cover but there is something about Amanda's that just reaches for my soul. It is breathtaking and if you follow me on Instagram you know that I listen to this song A LOT.

3. "Papermoon" by Tommy Heavenly6 - Soul Eater OP 2

The winner is...

Nate! I have always thought that Tommy Heavenly6's OP sounded like Maka singing the song and having heard Nate's cover makes it sound like Soul singing the song. Don't get me wrong Amanda Lee & dj-Jo's cover of the song is creative as hell but sometimes it is nice to hear a male perspective on the song.

4. "Kyouran Hey Kids!!" by THE ORAL CIGARETTES - Noragami Aragoto OP

The winner is...

Amanda! Nate's cover is good and all but have you heard Amanda's? I can't stop listening to it!! She did a brilliant job on the cover including some of the spoken parts of the song. It's a fresh and highly creative version. Plus you just get lost in her voice and before you know it you've listened to the song over 200 times...okay that sounds a bit crazy but I DON'T CARE. I love it and I can't get enough! I love it so much I even made a ring tone out of it...so I'm obsessed...basically.

Now...I felt really bad that I only did four songs...I made a Bonus Battle. This bonus battle is pitting Amanda and Nate against the original Japanese. As you know (or maybe not) the two collaborated on two songs together...again I own the original versions as well as the Amanda and Nate cover. Let's start this.

1. "FUTURE FISH" ED from Free! Eternal Summer

The winner is...

It's a tie! I couldn't actually decided between STYLE FIVE and the cover by Caleb Hyles (Haru), Ashe (Rin), Shades (Makoto), Daniel Alvarez (Nagisa), NateWantstoBattle (Rei), Amanda Lee (Gou). They are so very similar that I can't decide. Why don't you guys take a listen and let me know your thoughts? Who sang it better?

2. "Kuusou Mesorogiwi" OP from Mirai Nikki (The Future Diary)

The winner is...

Amanda & Nate! I actually had to consult my sister on this to make sure I made the right choice. I absolutely love Yousei Teikoku - her song Baptize is one of my favorites and her voice is absolutely beautiful...however, Nate and Amanda make a great duo in the recreation of the psychological anime. Nate's music and backup singing perfectly meshes with Amanda's lead vocals.

What are your thoughts on this update? Let me know.
