Love - Anime Edition

Hey guys! Today is the day of love, Valentine's Day. Whether you are giving chocolates to loved ones, crushes, friends, or spending the day alone; let's talk about that thing called romance. If you follow me on social media at all, then you know that I have been obsessed with romance anime and manga. You name it, I've probably read or watched it. Instead of gushing about a significant other (because they don't exist), I'm going to chat about my favorite anime and manga I've been all about.

Top 10 Romance Anime

So these are the top 10 romance anime I have been watching. Criteria? Yep, I have that too. The criteria for being on this list is that they must be complete. So those anime that are currently running do not count towards this list. Let's get to it.

10. Toradora [Crunchyroll]

9. Hiiro no Kakera [Crunchyroll / Anime Network]

8. Aquarion/Aquarion EVOL [FUNimation]

7. Campione! [Crunchyroll / Anime Network]

6. Date A Live [FUNimation]

5. Ouran High School Host Club [FUNimation]

4. Fruits Basket [FUNimation]

3. Maid-sama! [Anime Network]

2. Sekaiichi Hatsukoi [Crunchyroll] / Junjou Romantica [Hulu]

Honorable Mentions:

Love Stage!!
The Familiar of Zero
Clannad
Brighter than the Dawning Blue
Akatsuki no Yona
Akagami no Shirayukihime
Sankarea

1. Say "I Love You" [Crunchyroll / Anime Network]

Please don't give me hate for this list. There is a reason that while people say it is their favorite, Clannad is only an honorable mention. I hate feeling sad. And that is all that Clannad makes me feel. I can't watch the show without bawling my eyes out. And that's the reason why Brighter than the Dawning Blue isn't on this list. As for the number one pick, if you haven't learned it is my favorite romance. I love to watch it whether its in English or Japanese. Hell I even love the manga!

Top 10 Romance Manga

Speaking of manga, let's talk about my top 10 romance manga. Unlike the anime series one, I'm 100% okay with there being ongoing series on this list. So let's get started.

10. Private Prince - Enjouji Maki

*warning: do not get this confused with the yaoi manga Private Prince by Asato Eiri*

9. Domestic na Kanojo by Sasuga Kei

2. Love So Life by Kouichi Kaede

Honorable Mention:

Kanji Ni Naru Hi by Ogura Akane

*note: I didn't think this counted for either category because it was gender bender
but it fits the romance category over the yaoi*

1. Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu by Minami Kanan

Several of these are long time favorites and some of new favorites. It was really tough to put Say I Love You so low on the list but I am really into Koiiro Devil right now and it kind of beats Say I Love You, but hey that series can't be in the top three on all my lists...*trying and failing to justify my choices*.  What are your favorite romance manga to read? Let me know because I am always looking for new series to read.

Top 10 Yaoi Romance Manga

I feel like I have done this list a million times. Okay, so maybe not a million, but a ton of times. And I would like to think that it isn't always the same but there are several titles that hold true. Let's take a look at those manga series that I recommend you read of the yaoi variety.

10. Shinny Kinshi No Koi by Koide Mieko

9. Crimson Spell by Ayano Yamane

8. Ten Count by Takarai Rihito

7. Tsuki to Yabanjin by Sera

3. Brother x Brother by Kisaragi Hirotaka

2. Viewfinder by Ayano Yamane

1. Totally Captivated by Yoo Ha Jin

Surprised? I didn't think so. What is your favorite yaoi romance? Do you prefer full series or one shots? I own Totally Captivated and Viewfinder. What can I say, I like the gangster romance (Tight Rope is also a good one if you are into this genre).

Let me know what you guys like as far as anime and manga go for the romance genre. Let me know how you spent Valentine's Day (I posted this blog and watched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood while drawing tattoo designs).

Hope you all have a great weekend and I hope that you guys can forgive my bad Internet for the reason why I am behind on my podcasts. I have several recorded but I don't have them uploaded because my Internet is crappy right now.

See you guys next time.

Ja ne!
