Anime Fad of Winter 2016: Yuri On Ice

Hey guys! So, I know I have been slacking on the actual anime blogging, but I had to take a break from anime because I was starting to struggle with actually writing worthwhile material for you all to read. I know I'm being more picky than I used to be about what I write, but that is the unfortunate downfall of change. So let's get into this newest blog post that is actually about anime.

2016 has brought about a ton of amazing anime, but none has captivated so many like the Winter 2016 anime Yuri on Ice. With Crunchyroll and FUNimation's partnership, fans got to experience the world of Yuri on Ice in either Japanese or English (the English dub is still airing). As the title insinuates, Yuri on Ice is about Yuri a Japanese figure skater. It's about Yuri's journey to becoming a gold medal skater under the tutelage of world-renowned skater Victor. The thing that is captivating audiences the most is the realistic aspect of each of the skate routines. It honestly feels like you are watching figure skaters in real life instead of an anime. My favorite aspect is the hint of a love story between Yuri and Victor.

So I decided to watch this show starting at like 10 pm on 12/22/16 and finally finished at 11 pm on 12/24/16. It took me 25 hours to watch this show...mind you I also worked a full 10 hours at work AND watched movies with my sister AND caught up on the newest episode of Goblin on DramaFever...so sorry it took so long. I loved all 12 episodes and am highly anticipating a second season since they definitely left the option available with the way they ended it. I actually don't remember the last time I truly binge-watched an anime like this. I was just so enthralled in the characters and all the elements. I've always had an interest in figure skating, not that I'd ever do it. I just remember watching the figure skating at the Winter Olympics plus my favorite game on our Wii growing up was the Sonic Winter Olympics and I would always play the Figure Skating game trying to win Gold on all my songs. But that's a story for a different day.

Obviously the first thing that captured my heart was the beautiful music of this amazing series. From the glorious opening credit song to each skater's performance pieces, you are never given a second to rest from the beauty that is music. And each piece complimented the skater it went with perfectly fully encapsulating the graceful side of these men.

I'm sure you're expecting me to go over everything like I do in all my anime reviews...well this isn't actually an anime review. More of an anime recommendation. I HIGHLY recommend checking this show out. It is beautiful and I think that anyone would fall in love with it. So it is definitely worth the check out.

Sorry for the really short blog post, I just really wanted to recommend this show to you guys! So please check it out and let me know your thoughts! Maybe one day I will write an actual review of the show.

Until next time!

Ja ne!
