Voice Actor Spotlight: Terri Doty

Hey guys! So today is officially 1 month until the release of One of Few and the closer the release date gets the more excited I get. To honor that, I am finally going to write a Voice Actor Spotlight about Terri. You may think I've already done this before but I haven't! I'm actually in shock that I haven't done this before. Monica Rial? Yep. Todd Haberkorn? Yep. Eric Vale? Yep. Clifford Chapin? Yep. Stephanie Young? Yep. Terri Doty? Apparently fucking not. :( It's weird because Terri has been one of my favorites since the very beginning! I've said this before but Terri and I have been interacting for over 3 years now! I've interviewed her and written a review of her novel but have I written a VA Spotlight? Nope. I even triple checked to make sure I wasn't missing something, and after scouring through 100+ blog posts I found nothing. Well I found some really interesting things that I posted years ago showing off my fangirl side for VA's.

Just anecdotes from various blog posts about Terri as well as the impact she has had on my life. Well her and anime in general. So let's get a look at what Terri's life as a Voice Actor has been!

This amazing woman full of curls and wit was born April 4, 1984 (she's only 8 years older than myself). Living in Texas with her bearded hubby Stephen Hoff and their chocolate pup Zoey (that's chocolate as in the color not that they have an actual chocolate dog figure...though if she does more power to her), she is a busy woman. Whether it is writing a book, recording audio books, script writing, voice acting, or directing, she can't seem to stop. Also, don't forget her excursions to various antique shops to brighten her house. Terri is definitely an active VA on social media from her constants posts on Instagram (she takes you with on her antique shopping) or interacting with fans and other VA's on Twitter, you can always catch Terri somewhere in the inter-webs. If you ever want to have a long conversation with Terri strike up the topic of Zombies and you'll probably be there for days. For four years from 2010 to 2014 Terri teamed up with her hubby and the amazing man she calls a friend Tatum (also known as J. Michael Tatum or to those who don't know VA's names he is Sebastian from Black Butler) to create a little known (...I'm being sarcastic here) podcast called That Anime Show and they teamed back up for one last episode in 2016 warming and breaking the hearts of dedicated fans. They even were going to have the show comeback using #TASRevival on Twitter to encourage fans of the show to help donate through a Patreon page to bring the show back. But they unfortunately had to cancel those plans because they were unable to reach their goal. Hearts broke again, but fans understood (hopefully) that it isn't easy to do this on your own and Terri, Tatum, and Stephen were just looking for some help to bring fans joy once again. I personally understand because I do all this by myself so I can understand the desire to want to continue doing this but not being able to provide the quality content your fans deserve because money means everything. Maybe one day we'll be blessed with a ninja episode of TAS when they meet up at cons again.

Terri has a number of shows under her belt from VA work to ADR Director work to Script adaptation and she should be very proud of her work because she is amazing at what she does. If you ever listened to TAS like I did, you should know that the one show that Terri is really proud of (and you have to say it the right way) is Shikabane Hime (also known by the less cool kids as Corpse Princess). Terri was a script writer and the ADR Director of this show. Hell she even acted in it. Needless to say...Terri is kind of bad ass. Let's take a look at the roles she has been in over the course of her career.

Any way! Terri is definitely very talented and I can't wait to see what else she will have to offer in the future of anime. And again this is 100% in honor of the fact that her book is being released in 1 month!!! Exactly one month from today One of Few will be released to the public. Now I am going to end this here before I go off and talk about stories about Terri that I've already spoken about in like 15 other blog posts about her and continue watching the Korean Dram The K2

Until next time guys! Don't forget to purchase her book! Available on Amazon May 23rd!

Ja ne!

xx Kat
