Five Years of KAC: BTS Take-Over

Hey guys! I cannot believe it has been five years. I know that I haven't exactly been the best blog mom as of late, but I have been going through a lot of personal things and different emotional stresses. But I cannot forget to thank you for the last five amazing years on here. In honor of KAC turning five years old, I am going to talk about something else that turned five in 2018, something else that has helped gain KAC a lot of attention: BTS. Back in 2016 was the first time I had covered the bulletproof boys and here we are in 2018 about to talk about the largest group in Korean pop as of this very moment. So for this day, December 8th, 2018, BTS shall take over KAC as we revisit some of the best moments about this group from Big Hit Entertainment on KAC as well as talking about their influence on me.

June 13, 2013 was the debut date of 방탄소년단 aka Bangtan Sonyeondan aka BTS aka Bulletproof Boy Scouts aka Bangtan Boys aka Beyond the Scene. The first time I spoke about this group was July 11th, 2016 and ARMY are still reading the post to this day. BTS consists of seven members who are all individually impressive in everything they do. Let's talk briefly about each of the members (including my own personal thoughts of the members).

Kim Seok-Jin, better known by his stage name Jin, is the eldest member of the group. Born on December 4th, 1992, he is a vocalist and visual of the group. Known more recently as Worldwide Handsome (he refers to himself as this...) and his terrible dad jokes, Jin is a foodie who takes being the eldest seriously when the moment calls for it otherwise you see him goofing off with his junior members pretty frequently. As of late Jin has fallen down my scale of my favorite members because I've been eyeing some of the others a bit closer, but the "hyung-line" will always be my favorite.

Min Yoongi, known by either of his stage names Agust D or Suga, is the second eldest member of the group. Born March 9th, 1993, this rapper is also a famous producer and song-writer with stunning visuals and a habit (thanks to his stylists) of having very colorful hair. He is known to enjoy a bottle of wine to himself on occasion and while he is known for being the quietest member of the group, he gets along well with some of the loudest members of the group. Yoongi is an advocate for a variety of stigmas including depression and is not soft spoken, especially when it comes to calling people out on their bullshit. I have a lot that I can say about this man because he is the reason I like the group. I first became familiar with the group after seeing a video of him in 2013 and fell for him hard. He is one of my great loves in life, just second to Cha Hakyeon from VIXX. That is saying something.

Jung Ho-seok aka J-Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooope,

is the third eldest member of the group and the most lovable sunshine in the entire world. Born on February 18th, 1994, this rapper is the main dancer of the group and rightfully ranked as one of the best dancers in all of k-pop (alongside the likes of Taemin, Kai, N, Jimin, etc.). One of the more underrated members and often confused as part of the maknae line, Hobi is a wonderful member and very talented. He is an amazing song-writer and his dancing is out of this world. He fluctuates for me on my ranking scale because of the other members but he is definitely amazing and well deserving of everything he would ever want.

Kim Namjoon better known by his stage name RM (formerly know as Rapmonster) is the fourth eldest member of the group and the one of the best leaders. Born September 12th, 1994, this dimpled cutie is an astounding rapper who taught himself English and one of the most spectacular song-writers and producers. He is known to collaborate with many artists in his solo ventures and I am constantly impressed with each release he does. Joon has always ranked higher for me, again the hyung line is always after my heart, but I could never take him away from my beautiful Martha. (I'll get into this later)

Park Jimin, oh boy, where do I start with him. Born October 13th, 1995, the mochi dancer of the group is squishy cute yet deadly sexy and has been stealing my heart for years, especially after the cover of Shinhwa's Perfect Man (which is my favorite Shinhwa song). It's really hard to praise Jimin through word because of his stunning visuals and his beautiful choreography. His friendships aren't something to scoff at either. Mochi has always been a middle ground for me, a safe place to express my love. He fits so well with all of the other members and is like the glue that holds the group together.

Kim Taehyung known by his stage name of V is the cute actor of the group with stunning visuals and a beautiful deep voice that captures all ranges. Watching him grow into the man he has is a wonderful thing and it wasn't long before he became my bias-wrecker. If there is someone who makes me fall hard (not as hard as Yoongi...but damn close) it is Taehyung. The moment that I knew for sure that he was my wrecker was during Not Today. That was the moment he cemented himself as my wrecker. Though this nugget is beloved by my lovely Amanda and I could never take him from her...but I sure as hell will look.

Jeon Jung-guk the golden maknae and everyone's favorite Kookie is the definition of an all-rounder. Born September 1st, 1997, Jungkook has truly grown throughout the years of Bangtan's career. Originally as a fourth member of the rap-line (don't fight me on this...look at their older stuff, Kook was part of the rapline) and the main vocalist of the group, Jungkook has become the face of BTS. There really seems to be nothing this maknae can't do as he is gifted in drawing as well as having a large appreciation for video games. While Suga was the reason I came to BTS, Jungkook is the reason I stayed. I forever am grateful for this cutie. 

BTS shocked the world by renewing their contracts with Big Hit 2 years early and will be part of the company for another 7 years after their original contracts are done. That means BTS will be promoting as a whole for at least 14 years...that is crazy. Let's do the math, I was 21 when BTS debuted (born in 1992) and in 14 years I will be 35 years-old...holy crap. I know that when BTS had announced their contract renewals ARMY everywhere was talking about how old they will be at their next contract renewal. In 2027, we shall see if BTS renews again.

In the years since I wrote the first BTS blog post on KAC, they have released a slew of albums and music videos...I won't cover all of them because that is too many and deserves its own post. But I will say that Danger is still my favorite BTS song and Dark & Wild is still my favorite album. Yes, I also include their remix version of Danger in my favorites because I adore the slowed down version of the song. I don't think that they have released a song yet that has come close to Danger and I don't think anything will. What is your current favorite song? Now, to talk about how 방탄 has changed my life, I need to introduce you to the people that I have been connected to because of the group. November 29th, 2016 I met the beautiful and wonderful Sunny through her company Korea Box where she had been selling a BTS box (among a few other k-pop groups - only the big names like Shinee and Big Bang because those were the super popular groups at the time - now they've expanded their group collection vastly). We became fast friends because we both shared the same love for k-pop and music is the international language. (Sunny biases Jungkook) March 4th, 2017 I was introduced through Korea Box to one of my best friends of all time, Amanda. Who knew that a group like BTS would have brought me someone who I have ventured into a business relationship with (I work for her as an editor) and one of my shoulders to lean on in very hard times. (Amanda biases Taehyung and calls him her nugget) January 10th, 2018 Amanda introduced me to my other best friend, Martha. (Martha biases Namjoon) Even if Martha is the maknae of our trio of friends she acts older than both Amanda and I at times and is like the mother of our group. If anything, I'm probably the fake maknae of the group, ya know, the baby of the group...at least that's what it feels like. We even have our own group chat so we can stay in touch at all times. Though the best people I have met because of BTS are my readers, I have made so many amazing friends because of BTS and they are my family now, but you my readers have stuck by me for 5 long years and I can't wait to continue to grow with you all.

I cannot thank you all enough for being with me for so many years. It is hard to believe that five years ago I was finally brave enough to open up about loving something that others said was unnatural because it wasn't what they were used to. Five years ago I started to be proud of loving something that was different than what others were liking and I will never once turn back on that decision. I still love all the things I liked before and I think I have changed as a person and have become a bit more open-minded. I've also made so many amazing friends and have a family of my own that I know will never turn their backs on me. If you found me because of k-pop, please, reach out to me, let's be friends, who knows, we may be able to become family.
