Updates on Kat

안녕하새요! It has been a minute since I've actually uploaded. I have several blog posts started (and mostly finished) but I didn't upload anything. If you've been following me on social media, then you know that I had been sick for two and a half weeks. I'll explain though for those who don't follow me.

So on July 10th and 11th I had a migraine which is not unusual and that would typically go away, but by the 12th it was so bad that I was sent home from work because I couldn't do my job. Not really thinking much about it, by the 13th it was just a light throbbing and I was able to go back to work. Then by Sunday the 14th, that is when things took a turn. It was my cousin's wedding that afternoon, so we spent all morning getting ready and I had not eaten one bit. We were planning on grabbing something to eat before the wedding, but ran out of time. So we planned to get something to eat after the ceremony but before the reception (there was a large amount of time between the ceremony and when dinner would be served). We stopped at a bar to get appetizers and a quick drink. I had already had a minor headache that I associated with not eating and the intense heat (it was the hottest day so far of the summer), so I ate a bit and had one beer. I took some Tylenol in hopes to fend off the headache and not make the night of drinking I was planning on having be bad for me the following day. However that night of drinking never happened. By the time we got to the reception hall, I was feeling off. Like I couldn't tell if the beer was hitting me harder than it should have or if I was still hungry. So I drank a bunch of water and ate a small amount of food hoping that I would feel better. Over the next hour I progressively got worse. My head was throbbing and I felt like shit. I wasn't sure if I was going to throw up or pass out. My dad decided that I need to go home and drove me home where I laid on the couch after taking some Flu/Cold medication and slept on the couch. From there it went downhill and by midnight I knew I wouldn't be able to work so I called in.

This is where I need to explain a bit. I was born with bad lungs, I have asthma that as an adult doesn't usually cause me any problems, until I get some sort of respiratory illness. So here I am with a bad cold and a really bad case of asthma. I do what any normal person with a cold does and start a serious regime of cold medication, cough drops, and then my inhaler. With how much I was medicating and how quickly after getting sick I was medicating, I should have gotten better. Nope. July 17th I lost my voice (which you wouldn't think is a problem...except my job requires me to use my voice) so I was once again sent home from work. By this point I was trying to get into the doctor but was unable to schedule any appointments and any of the urgent care doctors near me had HOURS long wait times that I couldn't justify with my work schedule (after the 17th I was was able to get non-talking work done - so I was working) then the 19th rolls around and I am coughing so hard that I can't breathe and I am throwing up (not the flu - just muscles contracting so hard that I am vomiting). So I call into work and am able to get an appointment at a doctor that is not my regular doctor but the only doctor I can get into. She confirms everything for me. I have laryngitis, I have a cold, I have severe inflammation in my throat and ears, and I have asthma rattles.

Going home I am on cold medication, cough drops, my inhaler, and now some prednisone. I am still not back on the phones at work because I still have not voice - I didn't start getting my voice back until the 26th (not 100% back but like 50% back to the point I could actually answer the phones). But this meant by the 27th (my 27th birthday I still wasn't okay). It wasn't until now that I actually am at almost 100%. My voice is back and I am actually feeling better. This entire experience was the hardest thing for me because if you know me at all you know I am a workaholic and I overwork myself to the point that I am always exhausted. To the outside person it may seem like I am being lazy on my days off and just playing around on my computer or my phone but I am usually doing something KAC related. So now I am back at the point where I actually feel well enough to work again on KAC. Now that I have that out of the way, I wanted to let you know that I do have multiple blog posts I have written while I was sick and hopefully I will have those uploaded soon. Moral of this story: take care of yourself and go to the doctor if you can.

Until next time.

Ja ne!

xx Kat
