Update 11/23/14

Hey guys! This week is gonna be a sad one. However before we get into that, let's start it off right. Music time!

I realized a while ago that I totally forgot to start a top 10 openings for the Fall anime. Well fear not, I have created one. It was actually really easy because I knew exactly what songs I wanted and where I wanted them.

Wait what I am doing character of the week first? What? Okay there is a reason, my next topic which is Top 10 Memorable & Influential Deaths of Anime is a spoiler filled one and if you don't want to read it then I won't force you to, so I have moved character of the week temporarily up to this point.

Guys I have two characters of the week and I didn't research them at all! I feel horrible. So instead of getting a whole bunch of words, I grace you with pictures of my characters instead.

First up is Yato from Noragami.

Second is Jiraiya from Naruto & Naruto Shippuden.

Now is my next subject. Please read the warning. Some characters death's are pretty much common knowledge but there are a few that aren't. So please if you don't want to be spoiled on the death...don't read.

SPOILER ALERT - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK - YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

Top 10 Memorable & Influential Deaths of Anime

1. Itachi Uchiha from Naruto Shippuden - he died of a terminal illness and didn't die at the hands of Sasuke. It is unclear exactly what illness he had but he must have had it for a while and knew exactly when he needed to face Sasuke. When he is brought back he has one of the saddest moments in the anime. Saying goodbye and I love you to Sasuke. He fueled Sasuke's desire to better the village (though Sasuke still needs Naruto to knock him upside the head a few times). This influence Itachi has, even in death, grants him this top spot on the list.

2. Jiraiya from Naruto Shippuden - his death was sudden and very tragic. He died at the hands of Pain while on a reconnaissance mission to learn about the leader of the Akatsuki. His tragic demise was met with grief and heartache from those who were closest to him, aka Tsunade and Naruto. Tsunade starts questioning her judgement and falters in her role as Hokage because she didn't stop Jiraiya from  taking this mission. Naruto loses all faith because Jiraiya was his only family (despite Tsunade being like family) and his only connection to his parents. However Jiraiya's death sparks a fire in Naruto and he vows to defeat Pain and all the Akatsuki to bring about Jiraiya's desire for peace.

3. Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist & Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - he died a horrible death at the hands of Envy. Sparking revenge in the heart of his best friend Roy Mustang, Hughes' death was the catalyst that turned Father's war against him. While it was a tragic death, it was one that brought forth necessary information and emotions to all those who knew him.

4. Bulat from Akame ga Kill - his dying wish was for Tatsumi to become stronger. He got his wish as he lay dying. He was blessed with watching his little brother reform Incursio into a strong weapon that would one day face the final battle.

5. Yahiko from Naruto Shippuden - he sacrificed himself so that Nagato and Konan could go on living. He gave up his life to let his friends fight for the peace he desired.

6. Mikoto Suoh from K - he was a king who loved his people and would fight for them. He fought to the bitter end and still warmed the hearts of his friends.

7. Mikage Celestine from 07-Ghost - he had a tragic, sad death. After his body had been taken over, he died so that Teito didn't have to. He just wanted to be free. He was later reincarnated as a small creature who was looking for his friend.

8. Gin Ichimaru from Bleach - he was a traitor through and through...but not how you'd think. He betrayed the Soul Society for a reason, so he could get close to Aizen. He needed to be close to Aizen so he could be sure he could stop him. He needed to stop him because Aizen had stolen from the woman he loved. Aizen stole powers from Gin's love interest Rangiku Matsumoto. However, it was impossible for Gin to stop Aizen and he died at Aizen's hands. He died in Rangiku's arms after he had pretended to kill her and made his attempt on Aizen's life.

9. Jin Muso from Aquarion EVOL - he was a poor unfortunate child who didn't really know anything other than what he was told by those in charge. He was sent to find the woman who would be perfect for his home but in the end he couldn't do that and wound up falling in love. His death was quick and unexpected. No one could have predicted that Mykage would kill him after he betrayed his home. Jin's memory helped his friends to fight for their freedom.

10. Ultear Milkovich from Fairy Tail - she was once a bad guy and then she started to atone for her sins. However she always felt guilt because she knew that despite her atonement, she still wronged so many people. Especially Jellal, Erza, and Gray. So as her final atonement she decided to use her ultimate technique to turn back time. She thought that her measly 1 min time change didn't change a thing, but she didn't know that she saved her brother from certain death. Gray had died from a shot to the head but because of Ultear he was able to dodge that shot and live to fight.

I had the hardest time putting together this list. It's really hard to justify that one death is more important than another. Every single death meant something and had a drastic effect on the story as well as the other characters. Don't agree with this list, let me know who you would have in a top ten. I actually had to cut out another fifteen characters from this list because I felt that these were some of the ones that hit me the hardest. Hence why I call them memorable.

Which death strikes your heart chords the most? Is there one that I missed? Do you think someone else should be on this list? Let me know.

That's it for this week guys. I never read Bleach this week...so I don't have a review for it. Sorry. I will have one up next week. Promise.

Have a happy thanksgiving and a good week.

See you next week.

Ja ne.

xx Kat
