Update 10/19/14
Hey guys! I have some exciting news! This is Kat's Anime Corner's 50th Update! Yeah I can't believe it either. Over 2000 views and 50 posts, this blog has come a long way since I first started doing this and I only have you guys to thank for that. This week was busy again and very stressful. It is week two of my internship and I am getting to be very busy at the clinic. It's almost like I have no time to work on even homework let alone this blog.
Let's begin.
First up is a review of one of my favorite apps. The VizManga app for iPad, iPhone, and Android. A book app that hosts 100+ of VizMedia's best selling manga series. Series like Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Death Note, Blue Exorcist, Vampire Knight, Nana, and more are featured on this app (and their website www.vizmanga.com). The app was first released in 2011 by the US manga giant and has been going strong since. I started using the site and app in 2012 (when they were still using Amazon to purchase manga, now you can buy the manga through the site or iTunes).
Yes there have been glitches in the past but as with all apps whenever these companies like Apple and Samsung (back when I had a Samsung Galaxy) update their products the apps companies like VizMedia produce need to be updated too. I think VizMedia has been on top of their updates, the latest update to the app is the 8.1 update which was released October 16th to fix bugs and performance improvement on the Apple app to help it stay working with the newness of iOS 8.
I won't go into the manga I have purchased on VizManga because that is for a different update, I will just start by saying that the beauty of the app is getting to read a numerous amount of manga on the go. It makes it nice to know that I don't have to carry all of one series with me if I go somewhere. Plus the app allows for downloading the manga using WiFi or your phone's internet and then reading the manga in areas that don't have internet access at a later date.
The app also allows for VizMedia to promote their Weekly Shonen Jump which is released the same day as the Shonen Jump in Japan. (So you can get the latest Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Blue Exorcist, Seraph of the End, and more before they are released into volumes).
Check it out at vizmanga.com or in your iTunes store or Google Play store.
What did you think? Do you use the VizManga app? Do you prefer to read your manga elsewhere? Let me know.
Now time for a review of one of my favorite anime's (it would be in the top ten if they would just continue the anime). I am talking about Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan.
This anime is two seasons long. Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan is season one which is 26 episodes long that aired July 6th, 2010 to December 21st, 2010. Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan ~Demon Capital~ is season two which is also 26 episodes long that aired July 3rd, 2011 to December 8th, 2011. It is a show about twelve year old Rikuo Nura and his journey to becoming Supreme commander of the Nura Clan.
I had originally watched season on in Japanese on HuluPlus then I was shopping at Walmart a while later when I saw the Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan ~Demon Capital~ volume 1 DVD. I was excited so I bought it. By the time I actually got around to watching it HuluPlus and Neon Alley had partnered up so I rewatched season one in English then I watched season two in English on DVD and finished it up in Japanese on HuluPlus.
The Voice Actors and Seiyu are brilliant. Yes even Todd Haberkorn is in it. He is credited as Todd Stone for this show. I even like Kana's voice actress even though I find her annoying in Vampire Knight as Yuki.
Now the main thing that drew me into the show was the beautiful openings. Season One has some pretty decent openings featuring Monkey Majik's songs "Fast Forward" and "Sunshine". It was however Demon Capital's openings that really captivated me. Featuring LM.C's songs the first and second opening of Demon Capital caught my eye and has since held it. "Hoshi no Arika" and "The Love Song" are my favorite bits of music from this show. That isn't to say the end credit songs are to be doubted. Featuring four songs by Katate Size which is a group consisting of seiyu's Aya Hirano, Yui Horie, and Ai Maeda, I found myself giggling at the silliness of the end credits. "Sparky Start", "Symphonic Dream", "Orange Smile", and "Departure" are sung by the seiyu's of the female cast Yukiona, Kana, and Yura.
I won't disucss the manga as I want to wait until the manga is complete in the US (there are 25 volumes in total and only 23 released in the US). This series is definitely worth checking out.
Have you ever watched Nura before? Would you rather see a different series reviewed? Let me know.
Now since I didn't do this last week and I promised to do it this week, I present...the Characters of the Week.
First up is Toshiro Hitsugaya from Bleach.
This white-haired kid genius joined the Gotei 13 shortly after his childhood friend Momo. He was recruited by the busty Rangiku. He became the third seat of squad ten under Captain Isshin Shiba. After Isshin's departure he was named Captain of Squad Ten.
His sword Hyorinmaru is a strong ice-type Zanpakuto. His bankai Daiguren Hyorinmaru gives him Dragon wings and a tail. It is a powerful Zanpakuto.
His voice actor and seiyu bring the character to life splendidly. His Japanese seiyu is Romi Park who is best known for her work as Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. His English voice actor is known for his work as Shuhei Hisagi in Bleach and Neji Hyuuga from Naruto and Naruto Shippuden (I know him best as Senri Shiki from Vampire Knight).
This Gotei 13 Captain even has his own movie called The DiamondDust Rebellion.
Now my second Character of the Week is Rikuo Nura from Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan.
This twelve year old is the third heir to the Nura Clan. In his "day form" he is a twelve year old human boy, but in his yokai form he is a sixteen year old badass.
Nura was born of a Yokai father and a human mother thus giving him his Day and Night forms. He was just a young boy when he first unlocked his Yokai form, but it wasn't until years later he would unlock it again. After a series of struggles he finally decided that he would become the next head of the Nura Clan and rule the Night Parade of 100 Demons.
Apart from his ever growing array of strange friends, he has two girls vying for his affection. The human girl Kana who he has a crush on and his yokai aide Yukiona. Rikuo is still young but in due time he would be able to chose a girl to love and marry.
So that was the Character of the Week segment. Want to see a character of your choosing in the segment? Let me know on Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, or Facebook, or even in the comments below. Who knows? Maybe your character will be featured.
Well that is it for now for those who don't read Bleach and Naruto. I'll see you all next week. For those of you who do read them, let's get down to it.
SPOILER ALERT - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK YOU'VE BEEN WARNED - SPOILER ALERT
Naruto
Sasuke versus Naruto. The fight we've all been waiting for. Along with the announcement of five weeks (now three weeks) to go. The end draws near. Who will win the battle for Konoha's Hokage? Sasuke who wants to be the Dictator of the entire world or Naruto who wants the peace he can foresee.
Find out next week (hopefully).
I am still sad that it is finally ending but all good things must come to an end. I just hope the ending is the well deserved one we have all foreseen.

¡NARUTO FOR HOKAGE!
Bleach
I've had two weeks to think about these two chapters. I've even reread them and I still don't know what the fuck is happening. God, Tite Kubo, this manga better need nicely or you will be cursed by many dedicated fans. Let's just hope the rumors of a Bleach anime revival are true.
Do you like this "lack of Ichigo" fighting in the Soul Kingdom? I really want to see Ywach and Ichigo fight it out because we really deserve it.
Let me know your thoughts on the latest chapters of both these beloved series, also when this ends, what series would you like me to keep up with? How about Fairy Tail or Seraph of the End? (Don't ask for Attack on Titan because I am still in a love hate relationship with that series).
