BTS Takeover The American Music Awards

Hey guys! So as you know in previous posts I've covered BTS several times. 방탄소년단 is by far one of the top Korean groups in the world.

Here are the blog posts where I explicitly spoke about the group instead of just mentioning them in passing like I have over the last 4 years.

축하합니다 방탄소년단! 나는 BTS와 그들이 이뤄 낸모든 것에 대해 매우 흥분해 있어! Congratulations Bangtan.

Anyway, I'm sure I've said it before, but BTS is always the group that comes to mind when people ask who I would recommend non-k-pop listeners to check out first. And now they are taking over the world with their amazing music and wonderful message. Bangtan has always been about empowering people their age as well as breaking down barriers. If anyone was to finally break down the barrier to mainstream Korean music and make it less of a stigma to enjoy a music in a different language, then BTS will be that group. Time and time again I am constantly harassed for only enjoying Korean music or that "weird Asian stuff", but what people don't get is that Korean music and Japanese music has been a huge part of my life for the last 5 almost 6 years! So I apologize that I am going to listen to what I want and write about what I want. So here today, I am proud to present BTS breaking down walls.

ARMY and new fans alike were pretty upset that 방탄소년단 (BTS) was one of the last performances of the night, but boy was it worth the wait. The 3 hour event which aired on ABC was the televised debut of the group. Their friends, The Chainsmokers (who had a big night of their own, winning EDM Artist), presented the group. It was crazy to hear the American ARMY chanting for the group like you hear on Korean Music Shows. However it was there! Kim Namjoon! Kim Seokjin! Min Yoongi! Jung Hoseok! Park Jimin! Jeon Jungkook! BTS! So cool! 대박! Like I said. I cannot get over how amazing ARMY has been for this entire thing.

Now the performance, it was just like you see on the Korean Music Shows. Just publicly televised all over the US. I wonder what their other big hits would be like on stage especially songs like 쩔어 (Dope) or 불타오르네 (Fire). Anyway, back to the performance at hand. I'll definitely have to rewatch it because I could not keep my eyes off of Min Yoongi with that beautiful white hair of his! Why does he have to be so handsome? DNA is not one of my favorite songs of theirs, but it was definitely fun to see on live television. Plus if you follow me on Twitter (@katrina_meade) then you saw the onslaught of tweets related to BTS. Everything from their red carpet appearance to their reactions from the audience to their performance to their backstage post AMA reactions, I had it all. Again, I cannot express how proud and excited I am for BTS.
