Update 10/25/15

Hey guys! So it has been an awfully long time since we have had a good Voice Actor Spotlight on the blog. In honor of my return to the blogging world, here are THREE different VA Spotlights.

(Source of all information to follow is from en.wikipedia.org, if you notice something missing or something is not accurate, please let me know along with an accurate source.)

VA Spotlight: Mike McFarland

Mike McFarland is a voice actor, ADR director, producer, and writer for Funimation. You may know him by his other name Charles Clegg which he is credited as in several anime series. My first role I ever saw him in was from the popular anime Fruits Basket. He also had a small role in D. Gray-Man, but my biggest role was from Fruits Basket. He has been a voice actor since 1997. So I mean you can say that the first time I heard his voice was back then when he played the dirty Master Roshi in the Dragon Ball series...but I only barely paid attention to that show. I know I will get hate for saying that, but I was always more of Sailor Moon kind of girl not a Dragon Ball kind of girl. Don't get me wrong, I have serious mad respect for the series because Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece are kind of a huge deal so I know when to bow my head in respect to a masterpiece even if I do not like it.
Okay rant over...let's see what he has been in.

VA Spotlight: Stephanie Young

How about a throwback VA for me? Stephanie Young Brehm is a Funimation voice actress who I first heard in Chrome Shelled Regios - one of the first anime series I watched (and fell in love with Todd Haberkorn). She was also in Rosario + Vampire which I started watching around the same time. I watched a lot of Todd Haberkorn anime when I first started out...The thing that sets Stephanie apart from the vast majority of voice actors that I have had on here is that she doesn't do anything like direct, write, or produce. Stephanie is purely a voice actor. She is a singer and songwriter outside of the anime world, but in the anime world, she is a VA through and through. You may also know her under the alias of Kelly McHalen or Callie McHalen. She has been working hard in the industry since 2004.
Let's see more about Mrs. Brehm.

VA Spotlight: Christopher Sabat

So you guys have no idea how excited I am to do the Spotlight on Mr. Sabat. Do you remember a while ago when I did that Character of the Week for a little known character Roronoa Zoro? Mhm. Enough said. (You can view that update here). Chris Sabat is a voice actor, ADR director, and Line producer for Funimation. He even founded OkraTron 5000 - which you will hear a lot of voice actors reference in where they first met some other VA. He has been doing VA work since 1997 (essentially the beginning for those of us who are in my age group and started watching anime in the late 90's after school). Also if you guys follow my Facebook page (link to the right ->) then you should have seen a video I posted of Chris Sabat, Chris Aryes, and Sean Schemmel using their DBZ voices to recreate famous movie scenes. It was funny as hell. But that isn't why we are here. Let's get down to business on what shows Mr. Sabat has been in. For a show or two he is credited as C.T. Anger, so don't be surprised if you don't find him immediately in the credits.

Phew! Guys, you have no idea. These three are the real deal. Mike McFarland, Stephanie Young, and Christopher Sabat are all a big deal in the anime world and all three have taken part in multiple shows together. Though my favorite that they have all been in is Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Mike McFarland (who was the ADR director and line producer for the series) played the flirty Mustang underling Jean Havoc. Stephanie Young and Christopher Sabat played opposite of each other as the iron strong wall of Briggs Olivier Armstrong and the fabulously strong arm alchemist Alexander Louis Armstrong, respectively. These heavy weights are amazing in what they do and I tip my hat to them all. You have my most utter respect.

Who is your favorite voice actor? Which role is your favorite for these three? Let me know!

Until next time.

Ja ne!
